Learn About Black History in the Connecticut River Valley
We like to share some of the events in our community. Here is one:
Monday, February 27th, 6:30 p.m., Deep River Library
Dr. Stacey Close, a trustee of the Connecticut Historical Society, will speak about the history of the black community in the Connecticut Valley. His presentation will include a discussion of the area’s ties to slavery, abolitionism, the underground railroad and the Ivory trade as well as other topics.A professor of history and Vice President for Equity and Diversity at Eastern Connecticut State University, Dr. Close has been named a fellow of the American Council of Education.
