December 3rd —
Making Space for Stillness at St. John’s Episcopal, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
In this busy time of year, it can feel impossible to find time to rest with your thoughts or spend time with God. The sanctuary at St John’s will be open for you to drop in at any point between 10:00 am and 1:00pm. This will simply be a quiet space for people to sit in peace and pray or reflect and rest.
December 9th — Holiday Soirée at 6pm, followed by music and carols. First Congregational Church in Essex.
You are invited to a festive celebration at FCC in Essex, followed by holiday music and carols for all to enjoy. $10 at the door.
December 10th — Advent Quiet Day at First Congregational Church in Essex, 9 a.m-12 p.m.
Advent is a time of preparation and has many parallels to Centering Prayer. Both ask us to wait patiently in faith, be watchful and alert, and honor our longing to welcome Christ into our hearts and lives.
This Day of Quiet will create a space for us to connect with the meaning of the season through an exploration of the Advent themes of waiting and watching, a period of Centering Prayer & lectio Divina.
December 11th — Lesson and Carols at St. John’s Episcopal, 4 p.m. with reception to follow.
The Service of Lessons and Carols for Advent was originally celebrated at King’s College, Cambridge, where the Christian year started with a private service to which members of the University were invited.
The order of service includes old liturgical forms that vividly express the Church’s preparation for the coming of the Lord Jesus both in the festival of Christmas and in the consummation of the ages.
December 18th — Blue Christmas Service at First Congregational Church in Essex at 3:30 pm.
Please join us for a community service of grieving, praying, and healing, for all who are missing loved ones this holiday season.
Service will include music and prayer, as well as healing prayer and communion for any who would like to receive it.
