Office hours: Joy keeps office hours at the church on Mondays 1 – 4 p.m. and at Essex Coffee and Tea Company (51 Main Street, Essex, CT) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 – 11 a.m.About our Pastor: Joy was called by the congregation in early May 2014 and her first Sunday was July 13, 2014. She is an ordained minister in the American Baptist tradition and holds a Master of Divinity and Master of Social Work from Boston University. Prior to her call to First Baptist Church in Essex, she worked as a campaign coordinator around issues of economic justice and as a case manager with people recovering from addiction and mental illness. Joy is married to Matthew Nuss, a marine meteorologist, and enjoys hiking, reading and spending time in God’s creation.
