After much prayer and discussion, the Friday worship team has decided to switch from Friday night  to an early Sunday evening time.  We hope that you help us pass the word to others!  Our new 6:30 worship time will begin in January 2009.

In the interim, we'd encourage you to read through the blog to get an idea of some of the worship services we had this past summer/fall.  Our prayer is that the worship experience will be more than just a one night stand. We hope it will invoke new insights, questions, thoughts, reflections, ideas, etc., and open your heart and mind to God throughout the week.

This is a place where you can throw out a couple of lines so others can nibble on them, but be prepared for some tugging.  Some may take the bait and respond with their own reflections!  Add your reflections and thoughts prayerfully.

And remember, you are always welcome to share your thoughts, struggles, experiences, reflections, etc., during the next worship experience.

8/22/08 "Living Up to Our Names" The story of Simon Peter is a perfect example of someone who received a name that was initially bigger than he was!  When Jesus met Simon, he did an unusual thing of immediately giving Simon the "nickname" of Peter - A Rock.  Now Simon, who was a big fisherman, probably felt the name was appropriate because of his size and strength, but he was also known as being impulsive and a bit of a hot-head - not quite the steady rock need for the foundation of  God's church.   He sank like a rock when  Jesus called him out onto the water and he cracked when he denied Jesus three times.  But through the grace of God, Simon Peter learned that only when he relied on the strength of God could he become the rock that God envisioned him to be.

God has a "nickname" for us that reflects a vision for our lives that is greater than we can imagine.  Is it really possible to live up to our names?  Excerpts from a sermon by Darren Ethier: "Here’s the thing… God always calls us to something greater and something better. It doesn’t always necessarily mean a change of location, or a change of our career BUT it does always mean moving towards becoming more like Him. To becoming the vessel and instrument of His great purposes. Sometimes this means something huge but more often it means simply obeying and doing something small...

"God’s calling in your life is unique and even though He has prepared us and equipped us for the task , our own strength will never be enough to complete what He’s called us too… in fact, the funny thing is, the things God asks us to do sometimes seem a mismatch for what we’re really good at!

"...Why does God do this? Listen closely - God wants us to experience His power at work through us. He wants us to know that He is with us. God’s response to Gideon began with,

The LORD answered, “I will be with you…"

Allow God to be with you as you claim the vision that God has for your life!
